Researching and understanding human behavior is a core strength of HumanCentric. Behaviors as subtle as manipulating a device we come into contact with every day became the highlight of a recent project. Human factors researchers, industrial designers, and graphic designers studied how people perceive and use cleansing products outfitted to commercial rest areas. Numerous behaviors were catalogued and referenced during the observation of existing prototypes. HumanCentric's team then designed a new faceplate and instructional symbols for the existing packaging that better cued users how to successfully operate the device. The final prototype is an appealing design that resulted in a 97% first-time success rate.
