Take Two and Call Me in The Morning

In the News:

Parata featured in Drug Topics magazine

Excerpt: According to David Calderwood, Parata's VP of engineering, the company wanted to redesign the units keeping in mind emerging trends in the industry. With more women pharmacists and techs behind the counter, Parata designed the units so that a 5' 3" woman could easily operate the robot. At the same time, the company designed cells that did not need to be recalibrated every time the medication is changed-making units that are more flexible in anticipation of greater reliance on generic drugs.

The Challenge: Analyze current pharmacy product designs to develop an optimal solution for Parata including ideal physical layout, user interface interaction, and branding schemes.

The Approach:

  • Materials review
  • Heuristic analysis
  • Wireframes of new concepts
  • Icon development
  • Development of new user interface skins consistent for the brand
  • Guidelines documentation for design implementation

The Result: A more user-centered, consistent look and feel for the automated pharmacy products that reduces the learning curve for upgrading.
