The Challenge: Evaluate the safety and efficacy of an inhaled gas delivery system for pulmonary disorders in preparation for the start of Phase II clinical trials.

The Approach:

• Conduct a heuristic evaluation of the system's current user interface
• Conduct a usability test of the system's user interface to identify usability problems
• Perform a human error risk analysis to identify the human errors that present the greatest risk of harm or damage to users, patients, and the system
• Create conceptual user interface designs using wireframes to illustrate redesign recommendations.

The Result: A user-centered gas delivery system that increased the safety for patients and users alike.
