Amersham Health

The Challenge: Amersham Health, a division of GE Healthcare, solicited HumanCentric to design the interface and encasement for a new technology in medical equipment that produced hyperpolarized gas for use in faster and more accurate MR angiography. The goal was to work with Amershams Research and Development department of scientists and engineers to create an approachable device with a compact footprint and comprehensible touch screen interface.

The Approach:

• Assess the position and orientation of internal components
• Create various models and component layouts to achieve the small footprint without obstructing internal processes
• Assess and redesign the graphical user interface so that it was clean, error proof, and easy to use
• Explore design solutions that visually diminished the size of the device and increase the visibility of critical equipment status on the display.

The Result: The result was a compact, high-end solution with designed internal components that were easy to access and an interface that was easy to use.
